Claflin University to Celebrate National HBCU Week on October 23-28

Claflin University will celebrate the contributions of Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) and their impact on communities on October 23-28 during National HBCU Week.

Claflin will host a series of week-long events including the HBCU Week Kick-Off at noon on Monday, October 24 at Panther Plaza. All events are free and open to the public. Give-a-ways and prizes will be awarded throughout the week.

The purpose of HBCU Week is to strengthen the capacity of historically black colleges and universities to provide excellence in education.

The initiative is planned under the leadership of the White House Initiative on HBCUs and with input from the President’s Board of Advisors on HBCUs. The national theme for this year is “HBCUs: Promoting Excellence, Innovation and Sustainability.”
