Oct 11, 2023

The Office of Career Development hosted the 2023 Fall Career Fair at Jonas T. Kennedy Health and Wellness Complex on Wednesday, Sept. 28, 2023, which featured more than 55 employers who came to recruit Claflin University students from all academic majors. The Career Fair is an annual event where employers and job seekers come together to explore prospective career opportunities. Nearly 200 students and alumni participated in the fair, allowing them to network with potential employers and executives. They received insight on entry-level positions, graduate school waivers, internships, and scholarship opportunities.

“The career fair is a testament to our commitment to preparing our students for success beyond the classroom. This event connects them with opportunities and experiences that will continue to shape their careers and professional goals,’’ said Carolyn Snell, assistant to the vice president for student development and services. “Our career fair is a catalyst for transformation, innovation, elevation, and success for our students.”

Participating companies included Aflac, BMW, Department of Health and Environmental Control (DHEC), Dominion Energy, Enterprise Holdings, the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), ScanSource, Truist Bank Mortgage, U.S. Department of Justice, U.S. Secret Service, and Wells Fargo. Other participants offered career opportunities in education, real estate, health care, engineering, biotechnology, and the pharmaceutical industry.

“Our office is committed to providing students with employment opportunities and access to professional experiences,” said Douglas Barnes, employer relations/career counselor in Claflin’s Office of Career Development.  “The career fair continues to connect Claflin students with corporate executives who provide insight about opportunities from diverse job markets.’’
